Hampton Street

New Spaces

Alumno have been asked to develop a new building for the London College of Communication that not only  will provide living spaces for students but will also provide  facilities and create space for students to develop careers and ideas after they graduate college. Together with  with our partners, we have devised and designed new creative space by opening out the area in front of the railway arches, to create a new walkway, between Hampton Street and Steedman Street. This will in turn opens up the railway arches for multiple uses.

Creative consultation

We’re always thinking of better and creative ways to consult with communities and others who can help us in planning and designing the spaces we build. We consulted not only with the College and students but also with the local community and Council. We involved 3rd year Interior Design students who undertook as a module of the degree course, studies of the communal spaces, the walkway and the linkages between the College and the site. We appreciate the potential that new ideas from students can bring and the ways in which their thinking about could enhance our approach. We look forward to involving more students in the development of our buildings in the future.

Incubation centre

One of the most exciting aspects of the Hampton Street project is the creation of an Incubation Centre for graduate enterprise, providing flexible, affordable work space for start-up businesses and freelancers.
